Libraries are Public Spaces

Remember the Library is a Public space. Everyone is welcome. But PLEASE if you are sick, feel ill, stayed home from school or work, do NOT come to the library. You really don’t want to make others sick to do you?

IF you need a book or movie call ahead ask the librarian to hold it for you to come in quickly to pick up or send someone to come and pick it up for you. Don’t know what you want search https://nextkansas.org and place a hold and the item you want.

Log into your account with your username & password. [if you do not have one or don’t know it please call the library and ask for help]
Search for the title of the item
Select Place Hold
Click Confirm Hold

Not comfortable doing this on your own, don’t have internet or just plain need help? Call the library we will help you place a hold on the items you want. You will receive and email when the items are ready for you to pick them up.

Hopefully all of this sickness will go away soon and everything can get back to normal. We all need to wash our hands, cover our mouths when we cough and stay home when we are ill [when ever possible].

The library LOVES to have people come in! But as a public space we need to be diligent and try to keep those entering the library safe and healthy. …

Library Giving Day 2020

This campaign reminds us that libraries serve as a cornerstone for our communities. Not a whole lot going on at the library in February. The weather was the biggest problem. Cold one day and warm the next. Everyone has the flu.

We did manage to do a few things this month though. February has Valentine’s day so we did something with everyone for that.

First the Story time kids made Valentine butterflies on Wednesday, February 12th [the kids were actually not sick this day!]

The school kids made edible Valentine trucks on February 14th and Valentine butterflies on February 15th.

The adults also had a craft on Valentines day. They made Valentine boxes and bees wax candles.

Up next month? Dr. Seuss crafts and spring break crafts for the kids. The adults will be painting “Spring” board on March 27th.…

It’s a new year and a new month. What has the library been up to in January 2020?

Our Friday Food Club [Richmond Minions] is still going strong. Still meeting on most Friday’s at noon. We have all kinds of wonderful food and good company.

Story time is still on Wednesdays around 10:00 AM. When the kids are not sick or the weather is not bad that is.

Okay what else have we been up to? Since it’s winter and cold out side, we decided to make “Melted Snowman” in a jar. The kids each got a jar, glitter, and snowman parts. put it all together add water and you have “Melted Snowman” in a jar.

January is Kansas Birthday, so of course we did something to celebrate.

The adult group decorated “sunflower” cupcakes on Friday, January 23rd.

The story time kids colored “Tumbling” prairie dogs. Once they were colored we put them together and the kids got to roll them down a board.

School kids got to also make “Tumbling” prairie dogs after school was out. The also made sunflower cupcakes. A cupcake, and Oreo cookie and yellow frosting [whats not to love about that?]

Since the Super Bowl was on February 2nd, and the Kansas City Chiefs were going we had to do something so. The adults made signs and had “Super bowl” snacks on Friday, January 31st.
