January in the Library

  • by

January in the Richmond Public Library. We did not do much in January. We of course started to circulate a couple copies of “In Cold Blood” for the Kansas Reads program. We plan to watch the movie in February.

For the kids we celebrated Kansas Day by making sunflowers. Teens and younger came in to make sunflowers. Some were fluffy, some were not. No flower looked the same.

The Kansas Center for the Book at the State Library is again this year running a “One Book One State” event. This year’s book is “In Cold Blood by Truman Capote. This event runs form January 29th to February 29th. The library is asking anyone who wishes to participate to come check out the book. We will then have a discussion about the book and watch the movie in February.

Thanksgiving Craft Day

  • by

Monday, November 19th the Richmond library was full. There were over 20 people here for the Thanksgiving craft day. This year we made Totem Poles and Turkeys. The totem poles were made from construction paper and toilet paper rolls. This years turnkeys were made from construction paper that when folded and put together right stood up on the table, then the kids added feathers.

The kids really seem to enjoy craft days at the library. The next one is planned for December 17th and will of course be a Christmas craft day.
