Winners This Summer
This summer we had kids who read the most, adult who read the most, favorite colored picture, winners in the guess how many jars.. All these winner should be noted. So here is the list of library winners for the summer of 2006.
Damien Weber, Riley Roll and Justin Springer are the winners for most books read or listened to in the younger kids group. Chriss Moss is the winner in the teenage group for reading 50 books this summer. Darlene Springer is the adult who read the most books. She read over 60 books this summer.
This summer we had our second annual summer reading coloring contest. The kids are given pictures when they sign up for summer reading that have to do with the theme. If they want they can color them and enter them in the contest. The pictures are then taken to the community building during the Richmond Fair and the public votes on their favorite. Votes are tallied and we have the winners. This years winners were Kenzie Weber, Max Adams and Shelbie Morgan. Each winner gets a blue ribbon and a small prize. All entries recieve a ribbon.
We also had the guess how many contest this summer. Winner of the guess how many Mike & Ikes was Chloe La Duke, Winner of the guess how many Tongue Splashers was Kolby Goranson. Winner of guess how many pieces of bubble gum was Jake Kice. Winner of the gummi bears is still to be determined, since neither girl put their last name. We will check the hand writing and if that doenst work we may have to have a reguess on the gummi bears.…
2006 Summer Reading Program is done.
The 2006 summer reading program has come to a close. This year there were 46 preschool through 6th grade kids signed up for the younger kids program. These kids read or listened to 1,599 books this summer.
In our teen program we had 21 teenagers signed up. These kids actually read books this summer. They read a total of 297 books. This is the group that would normally not pick up one book all summer let alone read the book. We here at the library are very proud of our teens this summer. Keep on reading kids.
The adult program had 22 enrolled. They did not have the programs the kids did but they usully llike to read anyway. These adults read a total of 263 books this summer.
The time for school to start has come and the summer reading program has ended. We ended the program with our annual Treasure Hunt. Even in triple digit weather the kids came out for this fun event. the kids followed the map, got the keys and clues and found the treasure. They were then rewarded with treasure bags, treats and lemonade.
Certificates were handed out the all those who read at least 20 books this summer. Kids who finished the required books recieved a free book it pizza certificate from pizza hut and a free ice cream cone certificate from Dairy Queen. Kids who read or listened to the most books this year were Justin Springer from the older kids group who read 87 books. Riley Roll from the younger kids group who read 137 books. Damien Weber from the preschool group who listened to 146 books. Congratulations kids.…
Richmond Fair 2006
The library entered a float in the parade this year. There were over 15 kids riding the float this year. We did not win this year but we can’t win every year and the kids had fun, that’s all that count.
At sign up for summer reading this year the kids were again asked if they would like to color a picture to voted on by the public during the fair. This year there were 15 picutres to vote on. The votes are being tallied the the results will be posted by the first of August. Winner will recieve a small prize, all pictures will recieve a ribbon.…
Summer Reading
The Richmond Public Library summer reading program is off to a great start. We have a total of 68 people signed up this year. There are 43 preschool through 6th grade kids signed up in the younger kids program. There are 20 Teenagers signed up, and most of them are reading!! We also have 16 adults reading in the adult program this year. By the end of June we will have had 6 events already done. Sno-Cones
The Richmond Public Library will be selling sno-cones again this year during the Richmond Free Fair Parade. The parade will be on Saturday, July 8 @ 6:30. Those riding the float need to be on the float and ready to be judged by 5:30. We will agian this year be starting at the Weber’s shop [the haunted house]. Kids can get on at the shop or find us in line.…
