2024 Partial Eclipse
Monday, April 8, 2024 Kansas will be able to see a partial Eclipse.
In Kansas we will be able to see most of the eclipse.
The plan is to meet at the library around 12:30 PM, Bring your own lawn chair and some kind of “Eclipse” themed snack. The library will have some Eclipse glasses available to use during the viewing.
During a partial solar eclipse, the sky darkens and temperatures cool. Birds, insects and other animals might act like it’s night time.
We plan to meet around 12:30, bring a chair and an Eclipse themed snack.
Library Giving Day 2024
Library Giving Day started as an idea generated by the Seattle Public Library Foundation. The concept was to create a national day of giving that public libraries would rally around and that the public would embrace. So, Seattle Public Library partnered with its strategic library fundraising partner, Carl Bloom Associates, to turn the idea into a reality. As a result, this helpful website and its Campaign Tools are available to make #LibraryGivingDay a success.
As we know, public libraries are known for books and research materials, but they also offer many programs that promote lifelong learning, connect patrons to technology, and advance our knowledge.
#LibraryGivingDay is a one-day fundraising event with the goal of encouraging people who depend on and enjoy public libraries to donate to their individual library system. And in turn, that support will go toward the incredible programs, services and materials provided by local libraries all over the country.
The next #LibraryGivingDay is April 3, 2024. Join the movement, download the campaign tools and start planning. Together, we can make it a success
Brownstone Book Fund
The Richmond Public Library has received a gift of 100 new children’s books. These books were a donation from the Brownstone Book Fund , a private foundation in New York City. We are now in the process of cataloging all our new children’s books. Thanks to the Brownstone Book Fund!
The Brownstone Book Fund is interested in fostering early reading, a love of books and encouraging parents and children to read together.
Here are a couple pictures of some of the books we received.
The Library has been busy in December.
The kids have made Christmas presents to give a family member. We did not post pictures so everyone will be surprised.
The kids also made Reese’s Reindeer and Candy cane reindeer.
The story time kids have lots of cute crafts too.
The adults have kinda slacked this month. We have had a lot of people with some health problems. We started our flower pot candles, maybe we will them finished before the new year.
The library will be closed Monday, December 25th for Christmas day and Monday, January 1st for New Year’s Day
