Weeks 9 &10 End of Summer Reading

The end of summer reading report:

Week 9 was miscellaneous craft day, come and do all those crafts you missed this summer or do them again if you wanted.

End of Summer reading for the teens was August 5thwith a tie dye day. The kids brought shirts and seemed to have a blast.

Week10 the last of summer reading. The adults had a “share your collection’ day. They were told to bring in items that they collect and share them with the group. This was really interesting, we got to learn what people collected and how they started collecting.

Wednesday, August 11th was the final day. Instead of the usual Treasure Hunt we just squirted the kids with water guns, it was just to hot to do anything else,we were have 100 plus weather and it just wasn’t save to have to kids running around in that heat.

Here are the end of summer reading stats:

34- kids 5th grade & under signed up, these kids read or listened to 874 books. Most read to books winners Ashley Harkins  and Chloe La Duke [sister] with 108 books. Most read books winners were Kenzie & Sean Weber with 16 books each.

26-kids 6th grade -12 grade signed up. Most read books winner was Savannah Alley with 100 books!! go Savannah!

14- adults signed up- Winner were Mary Harris & Margaret Moore

We had 17 kids programs, 6 teen programs,5 adult programs,and 3 adult/teen programs.

Not to bad for a 10 week summer program.…

Week #8 Summer Reading 2010

On Tuesday, July 27th the adults held the Remembering Fun & Games Bi-folkal kit. The group really enjoyed this one.

We even did two skits that  came with the kit.

Everyone talked about games from their past. The video was really enjoyable also.

On Wednesday and Thursday the kids make Sea Creatures. They were given shells and various items to decorate with.

The kids used their imaginations with this craft, some of the creatures were really interesting.

Week #7 2010 Summer Reading

Were getting close to the end now. Week #7 held two events.

Engraving Art for the teens and water games for the little kids.

there will be no pictures from water games because the director [who owns the camera] was at a meeting in Lawrence on Friday,so there will be a couple pictures from the workshop instead.

Up next? Remembering Fun & Games for the adults on Tuesday,July 27th  and Sea Creatures for everyone else on July 28th & 29th.…

Week #6 Summer Reading 2010

Yea it says #6, the library was only open 1 day for week 5 due to Independence Day and the Richmond Fair [we are always closed for the fair].We did participate in the parade on Saturday, July 10th.

week 6 :

Wednesday, July 14 the kids painted wooden fish and snakes.

Thursday, July 15 the adults and teens had a bead

weaving class

Friday, July 16 the library held a Game Day! The kids were a little loud ,but they had fun playing “Say Anything” and “Scattergories”.
