Alphabet Club

The library is starting a new food club. Some of you remember “Geography club’ where we made food from different states and countries. Well now we are making food that starts with certain letters.

Each month we will have a main soup, chowder or stew provided by our “Friends” of the Library group. Each person will then bring an accompanying dish that starts with one of the three letters provided that month.  At the moment we are trying a new time frame, our first meeting will be Thursday, February 19th at 5:00 PM.

This month the “Friends” will provide Broccoli Cheese Soup. The letters for the month are B, K or T.

Remember you can bring anything you want as long as it starts with the letters of the month.  You can even rearrange to make it work. Say you have spinach bacon dip, you just call it bacon spinach dip, or grilled cheese? call it buttered grilled cheese.

Come join us for good food and conversation on the 19th!…

Brazil

Tuesday, May 12th was the date for the May Geography club meeting. This month we celebrated “BRAZIL”

There was coconut bread and Doracy cookies, Salada de Milho [corn salad] and grilled chicken, fried plantains and shrimp with eggs. Brazil was picked for those of us in the club who are “Survivor” fans, since survivor was in Brazil this season.

Next up in June is Australia…

Israel

In April the Richmond Geography club “went to” Israel. There happens to be a couple here in town who have been to Israel, so they volunteered to come to our meeting and give a talk and show us artifacts that they brought back with them. Don and Nadine Poss own a Real Estate business right here in Richmond and the club was ecstatic to have them come to our meeting.

They brought photo albums, a wooden “Last Supper” statue, several Rosaries, and more. Don & Nadine told about their trip and what all they saw. What a coo for our group to have someone right in town to come and talk.

Next month the club is “going to” Brazil.
