Summer Reading so Far 2022
One month gone from summer reading 2022. What have we done so far?
All the kids made bleach “Ocean” shirts, and”Ocean” bottles.
Everyone was invited to listen to a talk about Scuba Diving by one of our locals, whose whole family scuba dives.
The 5 & under kids also made starfish and a paper fish bowl
the 6-11 year old kids made made marshmallow pops, a star box and pirate swords.
The teens had a cupcake war, decorated bottles and put lights in them and made cork boats.
The adults have painted a sea horse, made a couple of small “Ocean’ themed signs, metal sea shells and made cedar bird feeders.
July 6th the teens and 6-11 year olds made water bottle rockets. The 5 and under made toilet paper tube fish.
We were closed most of the first week of July with Independence day and the fair being the same week, the library was only open on Wednesday.
What do we still have to make?
S’more starfish, sea turtles, clothespin snakes or mermaids, seahorse puppets, toilet paper tube octopus, stained glass.
Summer Reading ends on Wednesday, August 3rd, all reading records need to be in no later than Monday, August 1st.
We also have our Shark head for anyone to put their face in and take pictures.
Summer Reading 2022
Summer Reading has begun. Wednesday, June1st was sign-up day. We had some games and everyone got a bag with the summer schedule.
Wednesday @ 2:00 are kids crafts [@ 10:00 AM if we have under 5 year olds]
Thursdays @ 2:00 are the teens
Fridays @ 1:00 are the adults
Monday June 13th is National cupcake lovers day: we will decorate cupcakes and here a talk about scuba diving from a local nurse who is a certified scuba diver
Monday July 11th is Make you own Sundae day: we will have ice cream and topping for everyone to come and make and Ice cream sundae.
We will be closed Monday July 4th for the Holiday and July 7th, 8th and 9th for the Richmond Free Fair. All employees and some of the board members will be working the food stand.
Summer Reading ends Wednesday, August 3rd. All reading sheets need to be in no later than Monday, August 1st to be counted. We will get all the prizes handed out on Wednesday and weather perming might have a water balloon war for our end of summer reading party…
May 2022 @ the Library
May is coming and what to we have planned at the library?
May 4th will be the next Bread Class at 2:00 PM. Those attending will need to bring a package of instant chocolate pudding, strawberries [if you wan them in your bread] and $3.00. Please call the library and let someone know if you plan to attend as we do have limited space.
May 5th Cinco de Mayo sombrero cookies after school for the kids. We will decorate cookies to look like sombreros.
May 6th Mother’s Day crafts after school for the kids. Make a gift for you mom for Mother’s Day.
May 7th the library Taco Dinner fundraiser. 4:30- 7:30 PM at the Richmond Community building.
Story Time every Wednesday at 10:00 AM.
Food & Craft club meets on Fridays at Noon. Food first then craft at 1:00.
The library will be CLOSED May 28th & 30th for the Memorial Weekend Holiday.
We might add some other craft if we have time. You never know. We are gearing up for the 2022 Summer Reading program, so we might not have time for to much else this month.…

The Library will be having a fundraiser dinner to be held at the Richmond Community Building. May 7, 2022 from 4:30 – 7:30 PM
This year we will do the “Build A Meal’ again. You pick what you want, pay for it and we make you a plate.
