Spring Break 2011
During the Central Heights Spring Break this year the library held two craft days. The first was on Wednesday and the second was on Friday.
The kids and adults were invited come and make spring flower wind socks and finger flyer’s. The wind socks were a little hard for some of the younger kids so the adults were the ones who made most of the craft for them, sometimes the adults just like to make crafts.
Next up for craft will be an Easter craft day on Friday, April 22 at 3:00, we will make yarn baskets and bunny bag baskets.…
What Happened to Geography Club?
What happened to the Richmond Public Library Geography Club? Well they got a little bored with it… so we have come up with something new!
Since every month has some kind of food theme, there are also weeks and days in each month that are specific to food, we have decided to go with food months. Not sure what to call the club yet [Food Club?]. I’m sure we will think of something.
On March 22nd we had our first new food club. March was Frozen Food month so each person was told to go to the frozen food section of the grocery store and pick out something to bring. There are all kinds of things in the frozen food isles.
We had spinach dip, pin wheels, lasagna, pot stickers, banana cream pie, just to name some of the items that were present. This new idea seemed to go over pretty good with the club, so next month is Fresh Celery Month, everyone has to have fresh celery in what ever dish they bring. As an added bonus since the club will meet on Friday, April 15 which happens to be during National Egg Salad week and the 15th is National Glazed Ham Day it could be interesting to see what shows up next month.
P.S. Sorry no pictures this month I forgot the camera.…

Dr. Seuss Day
The Richmond Public Library story time kids celebrated Dr. Seuss Birthday on Wednesday, March 2nd. The kids were read the books “Because A Little Bug Went Ka-CHOO! and I Can Read With My Eyes Shut”.
Before the story the kids did Dr. Seuss crafts. They made Cat ear headbands and Ka-Choo bugs to hold during the story. For a snack we had our version or Green Eggs and Ham, ham sandwiches with chocolate eggs covered in green foil.
Since it was Dr. Seuss birthday a volunteer also took some books down to the nutrition site for people to read during lunch.
Both groups had a great time!…
Chocolate Day
The library held it’s annual Chocolate day on Friday, February11th. This tradition always falls close to Valentines Day. Everyone is invited to come and make Chocolate with candy molds. The kids made chocolate lips and chocolate suckers, they dipped cookies, marshmallows and pretzels in chocolate. Adults are welcome to join [if they can get past the kids]. they all seem to have a great time and I think they all left the library on a sugar high.
There was milk chocolate, cherry chocolate, butterscotch and white [Vanilla] chocolate. Everyone had a great time.
