Gargage/Book sale

The library is having a “Garage sale” and a “Book  sale” combined at the Richmond Community Building on Friday, August 24th and Saturday, August 25th.  We will have books, clothes, books, toys, books and other miscellaneous items.

The sale will start at 1:00 pm and Friday and go until 8:00 pm.  Saturday will be 8:00 am till 3:00 pm. Come browse the tables and maybe you will find something you can’t live without, of just buy something to help support the library.

There will also be a bake sale going on during the sale. Cinnamon rolls, bread and cookies, maybe you have a sweet tooth or need some dessert for that night?

Come see us at the community building and support the library!…

Summer Reading Ends

The 2012 Summer Reading Program’s was over on Wednesday, August 1 at 3:00.  This year we had 12 adults sign up, 12 teens and 45 kids 5th grade and under. There were 9 kids programs, 5 teen and 5 adult programs. The adults read 117 books, the teens read 49 books and the 5th and under read 609 books.

For the end of summer reading party the library served sno cones and gave each child a cookie and bag of chips. With over 50 people in this small library is was very crowed, but I think the sno cones helped.

Sun Catchers and Rememering the 60’s

The last two programs of the 2012 Summer Reading program are done!

The younger kids painted sun catchersly25th. We had a variety of sun catchers for the kids to choose from. the kids were told that this paint is suppose to look thin so when the sun is out it will shine through.

On Friday, July 27th the adults were treated to the “Remembering the 60’s” bi-folkal kit. We watched a DVD, had some 60’s snacks, sniffed some cards, and those that were old enough talked about things they remembered.

Butterflies, Dream Catchers and Hidden Pictures

The Week after the fair was a busy one here at the library. Every group had a craft and we had our monthly library board meeting all in one week.

First up were the younger kids on Wednesday, July 18th. They made butterfly finger puppets at 3:00. This was a craft with no gluing involved, just put slot A into slot B and peel and stick. These were pretty cute little butterflies.

Thursday the teens who didn’t make dream catchers the first time around were invited to come and make them at 2:00.

Friday the adults made their own “Hidden Pictures”. We used the “Picturing America” pictures, then laid objects on them and took a photo. The object is for other people to try and find the hidden objects not in the photo.

Cupcakes and Parade

the younger kids were invited the library on Wednesday, July 11 to decorate mini cupcakes and cake-pops. They were given frosting and sprinkles and told to have fun and they did!

The library was closed for the Richmond Free Fair but we made our presents know during the parade. The library enters a float in the parade every year. This year the theme was “TV Show” of did this make the librarians happy. Of course we chose “Survivor” as our TV show! Even if we didn’t win first place we were still the “coolest” float in the parade, we had a pool with water for the kids.

Up next at the library?  Butterfly Finger Puppets July 18 @ 3:00 for the younger kids. July 19 @ 2:00 for the teens, dream catchers.  July 20 @ 1:00 Hidden Pictures…
