It’s June and that means Summer Reading has started. Here is a list of the events planned for the summer.

5th Grade & under

June 22th @ 3:00—Olympic shooters

June 30th @ 3:00– National Ice cream soda day [ free ice cream sodas] and
Decorate your own sun visors

July 9th—Library float in the fair parade [line up @ 5:00] or find us before the parade starts

July 13th @ 3:00– Make a basketball game

July 15th @ 3:00 -Giant game day

July 20th @ 3:00- Lollipops & cake pops
July 27th @ 3:00—Olympic tea light touch

August 3rd @ 3:00—end of summer reading party

6th grade – 17 yrs

Adults

The adults are going to have a “food” program on Fridays during the summer at 12:00. This will be food of the day or month.
Each person participating will receive a monthly list of the appropriate foods.
There will also be a few craft day thrown in, as follows:
June 9th @ 1:00—pop bottle bird houses

June 23rd @ 1:00—Stained glassware

June 30th @ National ice Cream Soda Day [everyone gets a free small ice cream soda]
July 14th @ 1:00– Decorating Gourds
July 15th @ 3:00 Giant Game Day
We may do some kind of craft on July 28th, just not sure what yet.…

What’s going on in April

April 2016 seems to be “Fundraiser”month, and clean up time.

First up on Saturday, April 2nd the Richmond Ruritans are sponsoring a supper & auction for the Richmond Fair’s new Livestock Barn  & show arena. They will be serving BBQ pork with all the fixings.  The meal will be served from 5:00 to 7:30 PM at the Richmond Community Building. After the meal there will be an auction.

April 6th through April 10th will be Richmond City Wide Clean days. The dumpsters will be located at the corner of N. Ransom and Central st.  Please do NOT but appliances with freon, boats, tires, oil, gas tanks, burned trash residue, liquids, paint, batteries or chemicals.

Sunday, April 24th is the Richmond Community Building Smorgasbord fundraiser. This years menu is: Fried chicken, mashed potatoes & gravy, green beans, salad and dessert. Take out is available. There will also be a raffle for prizes. Tickets can be bought at the dinner or from Community Building Board members.  The meal is a FREE WILL DONATION. Take out is available.

Saturday, April 30th is the Richmond Public Library Taco Dinner fundraiser. The main dish is 2 taco’s, beans, rice, and chips & cheese. We will also have available enchiladas, taco burger sliders, nachos and small taco salads. The library is currently selling tickets for their raffle. The winners will be drawn the night of the dinner. Tickets will be sold right up the the time of the drawing. The meal is a FREE WILL DONATION. Take out is available!

March 2016

March 2016 was a busy month. With Dr. Seuss Birthday,  spring break, St. Patrick’s Day and Easter all being this month [plus a couple of other days too]. So.. What did we do?

First up was Dr. Seuss Birthday, we celebrated by making Lorax cookies, edible Cat-in-the-Hat Hats, a thing 1 and thing 2 craft and a Lorax craft.

We celebrated ” Nation Chip Day” on March 14th, they read some trivia then took a potato chip quiz and them they got to eat potato chips. Do you know what was the very first flavored potato chip? Those who came do now.

Next on March 16th we made “Spring” flowers, two different kids [one they put candy in]. These were really cute!

Up next was St. Patrick’s Day, what to do for that? The kids were out of school so we made St. Patrick’s day headbands.

The adults decorated St. Patrick’s Day mason jars. This craft took a while, since we used mod podge glue on them, but they came out really nice.

March 23rd we did two different things. First up the Story Time kids had their Easter Party in the morning. The the adults celebrated Nationals “Chip & Dip”Day. We had chips and different kinds of dip, what can I say it was good!

Easter craft day on Friday, March 25th [Good Friday]. The kids decorated jars then filled them with candy, they also had Easter paint sheets to paint here or take home. the kids like this craft!

Spring Break 2016

March is spring break time, and the library usually does something during the Central Height spring break. This year we will start by celebrating National Potato Chip Day on Monday, March 14th at 4:00 PM. Patrons are invited to come to the library and do a “Potato chip”quiz and then they get to eat potato chips!

Wednesday, March 16th at 2:00 PM we will be making spring flower crafts. We have two different flowers to make [one you get to put candy in!].

February 2016

February was Super Bowl time! so we decided to have our own super bowl food party. Everyone was asked to bring what they thought of as ‘Super Bowl” snacks. We had chips and dip, things cooked in dough, cheese & meat and all kinds of good food. Everyone had a great time

The Story time kids got to have their own little Valentine’s party. The got lip whistles, and googly glasses and of course chocolate, along with a Valentine story.

It was February so of course we celebrated Valentine’s day. We made chocolate suckers and decorated red cup cakes. The kids also did a Valentine craft. Of course the food was the favorite part.

What’s coming in March? well the kids are on spring break so there will be some kind of activity for that. St. Patrick’s day is in March so the Adults will have a craft for that. National Potato Chip Day and National Chip & Dip day are both in March so there is something for that, and of course Easter is in March and there will be an Easter craft day. Come join us in March for some fun activities!
