This past summer was our first try at “Grab N’ Go” crafts. With no In-Library programing, patrons came to the library go pick up their craft supplies and instructions then sent us pictures of the complete project and we posted them on our Facebook page. The library has programing year round for all ages. We try to plan something for everyone. We have story time for the little ones [Wednesday @ 10 AM] Food Club for the adults [Friday @ 12PM] We are hoping to be able to do these again soon. The pandemic has put something on hold. We are hoping things get back to
at least semi normal pretty soon.
At the end of 2020 the library owned;
1,765 DVD’s and TV shows
5,884 Books
17 Audio books
This library also had Halloween Masks that can be checked out. No other library has that.
Hoopla is also Free with a Library Card
We were not able to have some of our usual fundraising this past year. No Taco Dinner and No Garage Sale, but we did still have our Raffles. Filed for some grants that were specific to the pandemic for libraries and received some very generous donations, that helped us immensely. Still don’t know what 2021 will hold but we will power through and do what we can.
Keep an eye on the library Facebook page for up and coming events.…
Library GivingDay 2021
Richmond Public Library is part of a coalition of libraries joining forces to raise funds through a Library GivingDay campaign. This one-day online fundraising event will occur on Wednesday, April 7th and will encourage patrons and library lovers to support their library. This campaign reminds us that libraries serve as a cornerstone for our communities. In addition to well-loved books, many libraries offer innovative programs that promote lifelong learning, connect patrons to technology, and advance knowledge. Join The Richmond Public Library during Library Giving Day! This one-day online fundraising event will occur on Wednesday, April 7th and we encourage patrons and library lovers to make a gift in support of your library anytime now through April 7, 2021 by visiting us at richmond.mykansaslibrary.org and click the librarygivingday link…
#LibraryGivingDay is a one-day fundraising event with the goal of encouraging people who depend on and enjoy public libraries to donate to their individual library system. And in turn, that support will go toward the incredible programs, services and materials provided by local libraries all over the country.
If possible the library will also have an “Open House” on April 6th. The week of April 4th- April 10th is National Library week. Last years was canceled due to Corona virus we are hoping to be able to have people in for this years National Library celebration.
The week also includes, National Library Workers day [April 6ht] and National Giving Day [April 7th] so we hope to be able to have the annual “Open House’ to help celebrate all of these. Watch for more posts as the date gets closer, also watch our Facebook page for any updates.
Covid-19 Rules at Library
With Covid-19 still going rampant the library has been visiting their Covid-19 rules monthly. The board and director check to see how Franklin county is doing and the country at large. Then debate what needs to stay the same and what can be changed.

Kansas Day
Happy 2021! What do we have planned for the new year?
January is Kansas Birthday month [mine too]. So I have planned a couple of “Kansas” activities.
We are putting together a “Kansas” packet for kids. It will include Kansas coloring pages, 2 crafts, a honeybee craft and a Salamander craft [Kansas insect and amphibian] we might add a treat in the bag too, maybe.
Since Kansas is the Wheat state the adults will be making “Bread in a Bag”. Both of these craft do require you to sign up [we need to know how many to put together] The adult craft will be $2.00. Both craft will be ready for pick up by Thursday, November 28th just in time for Kansas day on the 29th
