Summer Reading Winners

The 2006 summer reading program has come to a close. This year there were 46 preschool through 6th grade kids signed up for the younger kids program. These kids read or listened to 1,599 books this summer.

In our teen program we had 21 teenagers signed up. These kids actually read books this summer. They read a total of 297 books. This is the group that would normally not pick up one book all summer let alone read the book. We here at the library are very proud of our teens this summer. Keep on reading kids.
The adult program had 22 enrolled. They did not have the programs the kids did but they usully llike to read anyway. These adults read a total of 263 books this summer.

The time for school to start has come and the summer reading program has ended. We ended the program with our annual Treasure Hunt. Even in triple digit weather the kids came out for this fun event. the kids followed the map, got the keys and clues and found the treasure. They were then rewarded with treasure bags, treats and lemonade.

Certificates were handed out the all those who read at least 20 books this summer. Kids who finished the required books recieved a free book it pizza certificate from pizza hut and a free ice cream cone certificate from Dairy Queen. Kids who read or listened to the most books this year were Justin Springer from the older kids group who read 87 books. Riley Roll from the younger kids group who read 137 books. Damien Weber from the preschool group who listened to 146 books. Congratulations kids.…

A Sharp Review of Twelve Sharp by Janet Evanovich

twelve.jpgThis is the 12th in Evanovich’s Stephanie Plum series. Everyone’s favorite Jersey girl is once again up to her neck in danger involving stolen identity, kidnapping and murder. And of course, our girl is still torn between Ranger and Joe Morelli. The usual cast of crazy characters are back, such as Sally Sweet, Lula, Grandma Mazur and Steph’s arch enemy, Joyce Barnhardt. Although much of the events in the story are predictable, it’s predictable in good way; like chocolate chip cookies are predictably yummy. For those who are already fans of the Stephanie Plum series, you’ll enjoy is this book. If you’ve not yet read any of these fun books, what are you waiting for?…

Richmond Fair 2006

Library Float 2006

The library entered a float in the parade this year. There were over 15 kids riding the float this year. We did not win this year but we can’t win every year and the kids had fun, that’s all that count.

At sign up for summer reading this year the kids were again asked if they would like to color a picture to voted on by the public during the fair. This year there were 15 picutres to vote on. The votes are being tallied the the results will be posted by the first of August. Winner will recieve a small prize, all pictures will recieve a ribbon.…

Summer Reading

The Richmond Public Library summer reading program is off to a great start. We have a total of 68 people signed up this year. There are 43 preschool through 6th grade kids signed up in the younger kids program. There are 20 Teenagers signed up, and most of them are reading!! We also have 16 adults reading in the adult program this year. By the end of June we will have had 6 events already done. I will post new pictures in July that you will be able to view from this library web site.…

Sno-Cones

sno-cones1.jpgThe Richmond Public Library will be selling sno-cones again this year during the Richmond Free Fair Parade. The parade will be on Saturday, July 8 @ 6:30. Those riding the float need to be on the float and ready to be judged by 5:30. We will agian this year be starting at the Weber’s shop [the haunted house]. Kids can get on at the shop or find us in line.…
