In Cold Blood
Patrons of the Richmond Public Library have been busy reading “In Cold Blood” this past month. Now that the month was almost over patrons were invited to the library to watch the movie.
The patrons had decided before had that we would have a “Potato Bar” late lunch. So we all brought stuff to put on the potatoes with one person designated to bring potatoes and have a wonderful filling late lunch. Then we all sat down to enjoy the movie.
Tuesday, March 4th our new “Geography Club” will be meeting @ 2:30 and celebrating Ireland.…
Valentines Day
In honor of Valentines Day the library had a few events. First on Wednesday, February 13th the kids made Valentines, during story hour and after school.
On Valentines Day the kids were invited after school to come and make candy bracelets, Valentine baskets and Chocolate. We had chocolate molds and things to dip.
Geography Club
The Richmond Public Library is starting a new club. The Geography club. This club will be about selected areas of the country and food.
The first meeting was on Tuesday, February 5th @ 2:30 at the library. New Orleans /Louisiana was our first area since Tuesday was Fat Tuesday.
There was gumbo, rice dishes, dips, and desserts. There were boas, and beads.…
January in the Library
January in the Richmond Public Library. We did not do much in January. We of course started to circulate a couple copies of “In Cold Blood” for the Kansas Reads program. We plan to watch the movie in February.
For the kids we celebrated Kansas Day by making sunflowers. Teens and younger came in to make sunflowers. Some were fluffy, some were not. No flower looked the same.
Valentines Day is next up for the kids. Geography Club is next up for the adults.…
One Book One State
The Kansas Center for the Book at the State Library is again this year running a “One Book One State” event. This year’s book is “In Cold Blood by Truman Capote. This event runs form January 29th to February 29th. The library is asking anyone who wishes to participate to come check out the book. We will then have a discussion about the book and watch the movie in February.
2009’s book will be Virgin of the Small Plains by Nancy Pickard
