Annual Open House
The date has been set for the Richmond Public Library Open House. Tuesday, April 22 is the date. 10:00 – 12:00 is the time.
Come to the library see the new books and movies. See if you like the new way things are arranged. Stay and have a doughnut and some coffee or juice on us.…
Conference & Spring Assembly
Richmond Public Library has been busy this April. Well at least the staff and board have been. We have been to the Kansas Library Conference, NEKLS Spring Assembly, and had a library board meeting, and it’s only the middle of the month.
Richmond’s two librarians attended the State Library Conference in Wichita this month. They left on Tuesday, April 8th and returned Friday, April 11th. They attended many meeting during there time in Wichita. They also visited the Goddard Public Library in Goddard, which is a suburb of Wichita.
Wednesday, April 16th was the monthly library board meeting. Connie the library director told the board of all the things she learned at the State Conference and made suggestions for changes in some of the library policy. The board discussed the suggested changes and other agenda items. Three items were tabled until next months meeting. The library board is having a garage sale on May 10th in Ottawa during their City Wide yard sale days. Next board meeting will be May 21st.
Thursday, April 17th two board members and the library director attended the NEKLS Spring Assembly. The heard about a new automations service, plans for the system in the coming year, and about the new state certification program.…
Russia
Tuesday, April1st the Richmond geography club celebrated Russia. Some of the food was great some of it was lets say interesting. There was Chicken [which was food the rich had] to dumplings [food the poor had] and Russian Tea Cookies. The group pretty much covered most different walks of life in food. It was interesting. Those present seemed to have a good time.
Next month Tuesday, May 6th will be Mexico.…
Spring Break @ the Library
March 17th – 21st was spring break for Richmond’s Central Heights and other area schools. The Richmond Public Library was prepared!
Monday was Saint Patrick’s Day so we had a Leprechaun craft
Tuesday was Story Hour and a local youth group Easter party
Wednesday was Tunnel Racing. We did this last and and the kids loved it so we brought it back again this year. And guess what they loved it again!!
Thursday was Guitar Hero’s. We started with kids who had never played and went up to kids who play expert. This was also done last year and the kids asked if we could do it again this year. So we did!
Friday was Good Friday, just two days till Easter so of course we had and Easter craft.
I think the kids who came to the library during spring break had a good time. We tried to have something for all the kids.
Ireland
The second Geography Club meeting was on Tuesday, March 4th. The place was Ireland. There was soda bread, scones, soup, coddle and cabbage, what more could you ask for.
Plates were loaded and everyone sat down to eat and discuss what they knew about Ireland. Then it was time to discuss where to go next? Russia!! That’s the place that was decided on by the group. So on Tuesday, April 1st the group will be eating Russian food. come on down and join us!!
