Italy
Where did the geography club “go” this month? Italy!
There was Parmesan chicken, lasagna, foccacia, cheese cake and more. The club is getting pretty good at finding authentic recipes for the region of choice. And the food is always Sooooo goooood!.
If there is anyone who would like to join us we meet the first Tuesday of each month at 2:30. We try to pick the next destination at least a month before. Then everyone can get busy and find a recipe. Some make ones that everyone would associate with the country or state, others might make something we never heard of, but that is the fun of it. Sometimes we have a movie or book about that place. Sometimes we try to find music. It’s fun and educational and we get to eat, what more could you want?
Next up? Germany in October…
Picnic & Flowers
the week of June 30th there was a picnic and flowers at the library. Tuesday, July 1st the Geography club had picnic food. The group had decided that since summer was so busy and that a lot of people had picnics that was what they wanted to do. It was decided that August will be China since that is where the Olympics are at.
Thursday, July 3rd the kids made plastic flowers. The flowers were made from recycled water and pop bottles. The kids were also given little bug stickers to put on their flowers.
Next up at the library will be the library float in the Richmond parade on Saturday, July 12th.…
Garden Bugs and Little Masks
The week starting June 23rd there were two crafts at the library. The first was on Monday, June 23rd the kids painted ceramic garden bugs. Each child was allowed to choose one of several different bugs to paint. The kids sure have some imagination with the colors they choose.
The second craft was for the older kids. They painted small ceramic masks. Once again each one was painted different. Not one mask looked like the other.
Dragonflies
On Wednesday, June 18th Summer Reading kids were invited to the library to make Dragonflies. The kids put the bodies together and then added their own hand prints to make the wings.
The kids really seemed to like making the dragonflies. Some made the wings different colors, some made them the same. Some kids added more color to their dragonflies, some liked them just the way they were.
Bandana Bags & Stained Glass Bugs
The 2nd week of June has been a busy one at the library. Monday, June 9th the middle & high school kids were invited to come and make “No Sew Bandana Bags”. The kids had a time cutting on the line and then tying the bags. But they got it done and seemed pleased with the bags they made.
Thursday, June 12th kids were invited in to pained “Stained Glass” [plastic] bugs. The kids painted butterflies, bees, lady bugs, and dragonflies.
Next up at the library will be Hand Print Dragonflies on Wednesday, June 18th @ 3:00…
