Nancy Pickard
What do you get when you have a group of people, good food and a Kansas Author? A great time!!
Richmond Public Library had Nancy Pickard, author of the 2009 Kansas Center for the Book Kansas Reads book, Virgin of the Small Plains.
The patrons have been reading the book and have just loved it. Everyone who reads it comes in and ask two questions. Do you have more of her books?? and When are they making the movie??
We were lucky enough to have Nancy physically visit our small library and the people loved her. She is a wonderful, personable person. Nancy sat down and told us about her book and some of the ways she researched it. She chatted with a woman whose daughter has wrote a book and is trying to get it published. This library would gladly have Nancy back again!…
Valentines Day @ the Library
The Richmond Public Library celebrated Valentines day on two separate occasions. First Story hour on Wednesday the 11th the kids got to decorate cupcakes.
Second on Friday the 13th the kids made mouse Valentines with a sucker for a tail, and heart shaped goofy glassed. Then when the craft was done they got to the Chocolate! This of course was the favorite.

There were wheat muffins, cornbread, Babatt [bread with sausage], broccoli sunflower salad and whole wheat walnut crumb cake. It was all soooo gooood!
Next up? Costa Rica on March 2nd.…
