Week #4 Summer Reading 2010

Week #4 and the kids are reading strong.

This week the younger kids painted wind chimes and the older kids made light houses.

There was suppose to be an adult program but due to every one’s busy schedules it  will be rescheduled late this year.

Week #5? well we were closed on the 5th because of Independence Day

and then closed July 8, 9 and 10 for our local fair. The library has closed for the Richmond Fair for longer than I can remember. But we will have a float in the parade on Saturday.

Up next? Fish & lizards on the 14th, Bead weaving on the 15th and Game day on the 16th.…

Week #3 Summer Reading 2010

Well we finished the 3rd full week of summer reading and we are still going strong.

This week we painted pictures, these were pictures with paint on the bottom,so all we needed was some water and q-tips [I love crafts this easy]. And can you believe, even the big kids did this craft [they must have been really bored].

Next was the teens on Thursday, June 24th HENNA TATTOOS, this is one of there favorites! The kids bring in signed permissions slips before they are tattooed, then they pick out a design, copy it to tracing paper,  transfer it to the skin, put the henna on and let it dry, tada!! at tattoo that will last [if your lucky] 3 weeks.

Last for the week, since it’s been so hot, we got some plain white fans on sticks and let the kids decorate them. The  they could use them to help keep cool.

Up next? Share your collections for the Adults on 6/29, Wind Chimes for the younger kdis on 6/20 and Lighthouses for the teens on 7/1…

Week #2 Summer Reading 2010

Ok.. week #2 is over. We had a busy week. first we started with and adult painting class with our local artist Mary Hall. We painted barns, lucky for us we only had to paint Mary had drawn the pictures for us before hand.

Next  the kids painted water guns on Wednesday June 16th. Each child was given a plain white water gun and magic markers and stickers to decorate with.

Then on Thursday the teens made Father’s day gifts. They were given the choice of a Duct Tape wallet or a bead key chain.

Friday June 18th the younger kids also made Father’s day crafts.

Friday was also the day the Modern Woodman Tiny Tots came and planted the flower boxes out front. This year they also added a few new boxes that they had repainted.
