Montgomery led both Black and white soldiers in the war against slavery. Montgomery continued his mission by supporting and protecting African-American refugees, determined to make Kansas a truly free state.
Todd Mildfelt and David Schafer share a passion to focus attention on the crucial role Kansas played in the nation’s struggle to ensure freedom and equality to all Americans.
